Meet Your Captain - Dave Johnston

A bit about Dave...

 

With many credentials to his name, Dave has been Keelboat sailing since the mid 1980s. He has been an instructor
since 2009 and has spent time teaching in areas such as the Great Lakes in Ontario, Canada, plus in and around the
Windward and Leeward islands in the Caribbean.

Dave has been a Charter Boat Captain since 2010 and has spent many weeks in Croatia, Greece, the Adriatic Sea,
and the Mediterranean Sea. He’s been everywhere from the British Virgin Islands and Grenada in the Caribbean to
Georgian Bay, Lake Erie, Lake Huron, and Lake Ontario. It’s clear that Dave is a well-seasoned traveler. 

The list of boats that Captain Dave has chartered, taught on, or delivered is extensive. This list includes Monohauls -
Jeaneau Sun Odyssey 54DS; Bavaria 51; Beneteau Oceanis 49; Bavaria 46, Hunter DS45; Dufour Gibsea 443;
Beneteau Oceanis 43; Beneteau 43.4 Cyclades; Dufour 39; Catalina 34. The list also includes Catamarans - Lagoon
500; Robertson Caine Leopard 48, Robertson Caine Leopard 45; Knysna 45; Nautitech 40; and Fountaine Pajot 38.

Dave owns a Beneteau 43.4 Cyclades Sloop, which he has sailed throughout the Caribbean’s Windward and
Leeward islands for the past 14 seasons. Dave has spent many winters down south teaching sailing and skippering
sailing vacations. He has approximately 20,000 sea miles experienced as a Skipper.
